Synopsis
The meeting of four lonely immortals will change them - and the world.

My Thoughts
A truly breathtaking new book based on Asian myths and legends, Vows of Gold and Laughter offers stunning new tales of sword and sorcery , romance fantasy, and adventurous magical journey of Sea Dragon and the halls of the Moon Deer written by Edith Pawlicki. This is a book that should be on every shelf. The main problem with it? It makes us want the next novel by Edith Pawlicki. now...no, make that YESTERDAY.
I'm not even half way through the compendium and I'm hooked. The descriptive power of Edith Pawlicki is awesome! He sucks me into the story and when disturbed from the tale it's that groggy...Reality? What? Ugh!... I've been reading it at night. I must say the characters in this book are simply fantastic. While this is a plot driven book, the characters do their best to make this story about them. There are many memorable characters in this book they are too many to name. Suffice it to say that if you enjoy strong character development in a book you will not be disappointed.
I'm incredibly fond of the new era in fantasy, but I still want more points in the line before I bring out the bucket of gilt. Vows of Gold and Laughter, despite my wildly-inflated expectations, was worth the wait. It is less a timeless reference than a simple snapshot of where the genre is today. But, given where we are today, that's no bad thing at all.
The energy of the writing practically thrums off the page and often the sense of tension and unease invoked is genuinely unsettling. Overall, this is a nice compact plot and one I am sure the vast majority of fantasy fans will enjoy.
