Synopsis
Dragons on the Purple Moon is a beautifully illustrated children's story about a brother and sister who long for adventures in space. Based on the writer's own children Hannah and Gavin, and the spoken bedtime story created step by step on his daughter's bed. Dragons on the Purple Moon is now a visual experience for the reader with a homebuilt spaceship as the starting point. The adventures take Anna and Avi to a strange Moon where they are amazed by the purple landscape and orange mountains. They discover a mysterious cave where they have an unexpected encounter with dragons. After an initial misunderstanding, they make friends with the dragons and realize that even though they looked scary on the outside they had good kind hearts on the inside.
My Thoughts
A good book about space can feed a kid's obsession or inspire a brand new interest in exploring the wonders of the universe. If you're hoping for a holiday gift, you're in the right place: Dragons on the Purple Moon by Peter G. Martin is a great book about space exploration and space science for kids. To be clear, there is nothing in the book that will ruffle feathers at the dinner table — there's a universality and poignancy to its earnest simplicity, vim and wit. Peter G. Martin's' jewel-toned renderings, liberally sprinkled with details that invite closer inspection, evoke the planet's immensity with warmth and gentility. My child is 2 years old and he loves this book. He is already fascinated by space books and things, so he loved this book. It is a beautiful book and grows with the child. As the child get older they ll start to understand what is the actual meaning of the book, for now my child loves seeing planets, moon , different people. Beautifully illustrated. Yet Another humble work by Peter G. Martin, a must for every parent and really young inquisitive readers.
A complex concept explained in simple English. The amazing illustration work simply captivates a child’s Imagination. My son absolutely loves it! As do I! A must have for your little one’s library. This is such a good book whose contribution to child's understanding of world and to increased bonding that it gives to parent & child while 'reading' is un-quantifiable.
Quite simply everyone young and old should have a copy of this book.
Highly recommended!
