Synopsis
No Laces! That’s what Boo, the bunny, always says. He doesn’t want to learn to tie them. He has plenty of shoes for every occasion and none of them have laces or strings. So, what’s the point of learning to tie? His friend, Farah Fox, convinces him that it’s a skill he can use. . . and one that might make him happier, too.
This book is meant to be a parent-child activity. Youngsters can read Boo’s story and their parents can help with the how-to-tie instruction pages. A fun shoelace-themed “I Did It” badge is included at the back of the book to give in celebration of conquering this difficult task.
Exercises in manual dexterity build self-esteem in children. Knowing how to tie shoe-strings, scarves and more into a bow is a useful and rewarding skill.

It’s raining shoes here! I have so many excellent children’s books about shoes. So, here’s a book round-up of my favorite picture book about shoes. The rhyming text flows easily in a thinly-lined type against a generous amount of white space. Boo's Shoes - a Rabbit and Fox Story: Learn to Tie Shoelaces was one of the first books my daughter read on her own! (She is now 6). It is such a cute book! Love the rhymes and my daughter likes to fully express herself - It is so cute hearing her read it! A great gift for little girls and boys! The illustrations are adorable too! Pair it with other books by Sybrina Durant , for a perfect gift little ones sure to love! My daughter also enjoyed bringing it to school to read to all of her friends. They all like to pick out their favorite pair of shoes in the book!
The fact that even young children can be encouraged to be problem solvers rings true and supports building coping skills at an early age. Like Boo wasn’t so sure, but Farah convinced him he could do it and she showed him how. After a few attempts, Boo could tie his own shoes and he felt rather proud of himself. This is a great book to help children see themselves as thoughtful and creative when it comes to facing day-to-day challenges. It also reveals a good approach to parental support in the development of these skills. This book will most likely find it's way into classrooms across the country.
I must tell you that I recently read this book at a parent and toddler group to all the children. They loved it so much I had to bring it back again. And again.
I would happily recommend it to anyone who either has or works with younger children.
