My Thoughts
Single Mom And The City: Create Time, Money, And A Rich Life I absolutely love this book. As I worked my way through the beginning it changed my life and my perception of my reality chapter by chapter all the way to the end. It lifted me out of my misery and doubt and gave me hope, inspiration and determination. Takiyah has a way of describing all the different emotions, and stages of single motherhood (emotions we all have, although our stories are different) from day one of solitude, desperation, anger, loneliness, doubt etc through to success. She allows the readers to doubt as well as rise from the ashes with dignity and grace. She gives you the tools you need to survive and continue. She guides you through with simple steps and exercises, helps you gain control again. It’s well written, well researched and also debunks many of the motherhood myths that we are so caught up in, at least I was.
Incredible book. I'm making a note to read again in a few months. Read cover to cover within days, could not put it down. Takiyah is just pure brilliance personified. Her expertise mixed with a little friendly humour was just perfect. Such an empowering read for women in general, the working mum guilt and stats blew my mind. Amazing read, cannot recommend enough for all single mums.
