Once there was me : The extraordinary life of an unknown Indian is a memoir with little changes like the name of the characters to safeguard their individuality. What makes this book an amazing read is that most of the incidents were taken from the real life of the author itself.

Year 1947 , authors family migrated from Pakistan to India during the partition of Pakistan from India. They even got great amount of land in India in exchange of their land in Pakistan but most of their land were taken away by local militants and what left they lost because of the loss in buisness.

Year 1984 , the former prime minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi got killed and from that incident communal riots against sikh community started. In which bobby Sachdeva's family was forced to flee to Delhi. Bobby was fourteen year old teenager back then. Author Bobby Sachdeva had faced many ups and downs in such a young age which impacted his life.

Once there was me is about the journey of the author Bobby Sachdeva and about how all those horrifying experiences changes his life.

" It was the shouting and the violent rattling of the gate that woke me with a start. Loud voices yelled, 'Indira Gandhi amar rahe ' (Indira Gandhi is immortal) and 'tumhare kattil nahi bachenge' (your murderers will die) "

PLOT AND STORYLINE
Plot and story of the book is amazing which makes it engaging. Once there was me is more than a biography : it's also an effective exploration of the year 1947 and 1984 from partition of India to communal riots. Writings of Bobby Sachdeva will definitely keep you hooked throughout the 400 pages.

REFLECTION BY ME
Authors discription of the scenes and narration of the story is simply marvelous. Flow of the text and the use of the words is precise along with easy to understand language. Since the book is related to author's own life experiences so , he described the facts in detail and very accurately.
