Synopsis
Matthew Honey's life has never been the same since his wife died in a hit and run. His only comfort is his daughter, Eve, and the corporate empire he built with his wife, which now sustains them both.When Matthew meets Jess, he isn't sure he's ready to bring another woman into his life - especially as Eve finds this hard to accept. My Thoughts
The intriguing mystery , thriller that moves around a father and his daughter unravels itself gradually sucking the reader in its mysterious depths. It is a kind of story that stays with you long after you are done reading the book. The Broken is a book that deserves every bit of the hype that it is currently getting. 

If there are moments during The Broken in which the A L Frances magic sometimes feels jarringly at odds with the wider world and plot, then it’s the carefully crafted prose and the atmospheric setting that carries the story along. It’s one that makes for an enjoyable and surprisingly natural elaboration on the original, a thing of darkness that, like others of its kind, will insist on being acknowledged.

The supernatural elements work well, but the main genre here is a thriller with a mystery at its heart for the reader to puzzle over. Some excellent folk horror spills over into horror which can be graphic at times. The reader is left guessing until the last few chapters how these elements of the story relate and come together. That's what truely makes The Broken Unputdownable. 

Overall this is a pacy mystery thriller with plenty of creepy, spine-chilling moments for readers to relish. The Broken as an engrossing and enjoyable novel and I look forward to reading more from A. L. Frances.
