Synopsis
Perri Todd is the single mother of two, a widow, and a sister, until the day she dies.
She can't recall how she died, but she wakes up in a new realm, alone save for a strange man. He claims to know almost as little as she remembers about their previous lives. Yet, there is something dark in his eyes when he watches her too long, and the way he interferes when she discovers she can reach out to the mortal world. Soon, Perri discovers she is able to reach out to her loved ones beyond the veil.
When Perri meets a group of souls also trapped in the hellish afterlife, they help her find her way back to her family. However, the world is not the same as she left it. The magic of the dead, the strength of their spirits, guide her home on an adventure to save the world. Hell has been wrought upon the Mortal realm when Perri discovers nefarious forces at play, and the dead walk the earth as revenge rains down on her.
Reuniting with her family is the only way to save the world she once lived in, and Perri must rely on her loved ones to offer her the strength to defeat gods and set the world back to normal.
My Thoughts
The one certainty in life is supposedly death. Even then, for some the latter isn't always strictly true, which leaves just death.
Death is the one of the last mysteries, remaining largely unknowable - regardless of huge scientific advancements.
Puddles of Hell by Janey Watson is an amazing adventure that cut across our own world. Through this interesting storyline of dark YA fantasy, author will take you on an interesting journey , which explores what happens when the dead come back to life through means beyond human measure.
I enjoyed Janey Watson’s writing in this book, it’s not as beautiful as say Laini Taylors or J.K. Rowlings but it was still pretty good and also really easy to follow. This was also a pretty quick read for the size of the book. Her writing is really easy to read and I think that is why it was such a quick read. The world building in this book was really well done aswell and also easy to follow.
I love how intense and interesting this plot was! There was never a dull moment in this book and there were tonnes of twists and turns to keep you interested the whole time! This plot was also fairly unique, I have obviously read books with similar tropes in it, but the rest of it was pretty unique from anything else I’ve read!
I really enjoyed this book, I must say the writing just blew me away. Definitely going to read it again.
Highly Recommended!
