Synopsis
A twig snaps in the woods, and minutes later twenty-two-year-old Gail Raish lies stabbed to death in the parking lot of the isolated drive-thru where she had just worked a late shift, alone.
When Claudette Sato learns of her coworker's brutal murder, it rattles her to the core. She had not really known the young woman, who was new to the small city of Bearmouth. But no one else in town had either—so why would anyone want to kill her?
It is this nagging question that triggers a memory in Claudette's mind, which proves impossible to shake: the memory of a night she herself was working solo at The Burger Box, and had an unnerving encounter with a man she'd never seen before.
A man she now suspects might be a killer...
My Thoughts
There's your run-of-the-mill mystery novels, and then there's The Murder of Mr Twist. Reading the former would be a great way to pass the time of day and learn the elaborate terms used while writing a mystery masterpiece. The latter will haunt you till the very end and raise your perceptions of a good mystery novel.
Wibking' eye for detail is incredible. She is gifted with the rare ability to inject a haunting sense of nonchalance into the oddest of scenarios. The questions that are left running through the reader's mind at the end of novel are almost painful and mysterious.
This is possibly one of the only novels I've read, where the chain of events and level of description almost rivals the characters themselves.
I had an amazing time reading this book for the first time. The book is phenomenal , definitely going to read it again. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and made me care about what the outcome/consequences would be.
Lyndy Wibking is a real genuis. 5 out of 5 stars. This is quite possibly the best mystery book I have ever read. I need to read more Lyndy Wibking.
