My Ratings 4.4/5

Synopsis
A mass mysterious global event has struck the Earth, causing the world to be dead...that's what you would think. People separate into their own clans and survive in their own ways, but one clan in particular has a curious woman who sees the Earth as something more. Her name is Merider.
She grows rebellious and ends up leaving the utopia paradise on the moon, only to crash down to the ground and see the Earth isn't as pretty from this close. Merider finds more than she was hoping for, from encountering high fanatics to stopping down the darkest of people, the ones who show no mercy and will do anything to get what they want.
The hellish journey doesn't end in all bad turns; sometimes there are even stars shining through, making Merider shine the brightest as she does something no one else did...save mankind.

My Thoughts
Science fiction is often described, and even defined, as extrapolative. The science fiction writer is supposed to take a trend or phenomenon of the here-and-now, purify and intensify it for dramatic effect, and extend it into the future.

Viper's Heart by Daniella Rouchy is science fiction for the thinking reader, and should be read attentively in order to properly savor the depth of insight and the subtleties of plot and character. It is one of those pleasures that requires a little investment at the beginning, but pays back tenfold with the joy of raw imagination that resonates through the subsequent 30 years of science fiction storytelling. Not only is the bookshelf incomplete without owning it, so is the reader without having read it.

The highest praise I can give Viper's Heart is that Daniella Rouchy captures the texture of science fiction and life itself. This book is full of little moments, bits of sensation and emotion, that show what it feels like to be alive, day after day and reading a good sci-fi literature.

Viper's Heart is not predictive; it is descriptive.

Like all great writers of fiction, Daniella Rouchy creates imaginary worlds that restore us, hearts eased, to our own.

Highly Recommended!
