Synopsis
Twelve years ago the human king destroyed the dragons and the shifters. Now, last dragon shifter, nineteen year old Ember is out for revenge. Skilled as a thief she accidently steals an old dragon relic and with a buyer looking for the exact ring, hope swells her chest. That hope is quickly doused when she's captured by the very same king. Forced to use her skills as a thief to bargain for her freedom, she is tasked with recovering two magical relics: The Ghoul King's Bone Crown and the Dwarves' Heart Stone. The only problem? Ember is paired with the infuriatingly charming and handsome Captain of the Guard...aka, the king's younger brother. Will she be able to keep her growing attraction for the prince at bay and complete her quest for bloodlust? Or will she discover there's more to life than revenge? A plot much thicker than her need for justice is taking root, will one lone shifter be able to save the world?

My Thoughts
Lady of Fire & Lord of Ash: A Dragon Lords Novel by Dominique Weaver I stumbled upon this book as I was searching for books similar to the sword and socery fantasy romance genre and I have really enjoyed them. I will try not to provide any spoilers. This book is packed with an engaging plotline. Honestly, as I neared the end, I was fearful that this book would end in a major cliff hanger but one thing that I really enjoy about the author's style is this: She wraps up the immediate minor subplots for some closure but also adds to the overall world building and clearly sets up future books. I enjoyed getting a little more time with the lesser characters of the Dragons. I must say, there are so many great characters! I love that there is an amazing women character that I loved called Ember Skilled as a thief she accidently steals an old dragon relic and with a buyer looking for the exact ring, hope swells her chest. Dominique Weaver handles multiple points of view deftly, with none of the awkwardness or confusion that some authors have. As usual, she's great at creating interpersonal relationships between characters that feel natural. 

She's also great at showing the progression of romantic relationships in that feelings of attraction and romance progress slowly - just like they do in real life - and all the feelings of self-doubt and hesitancy that accompany them, that most of us feel, are there. I loved it the story was so engaging. I can't wait for the next book! 

Will Ember succeed or fail? And complete her quest for bloodlust?  Can they survive?
Will one lone shifter be able to save the world?
