Synopsis
After college, aspiring fashion entrepreneur Harper, and her longtime roommate and best friend, Abby, decided to move to Brooklyn to follow their dreams. After years of hard work and determination, Harper has started an exclusive online boutique called Vintage Brooklyn. Her thriving business has garnered the attention of some interesting clients, especially Mrs. Bauman with her priceless collection of designer vintage clothing handed down from her mother and grandmother.
Business is great until mysterious letters from a stalker start showing up in the foyer of Harper's apartment building. As she fills a large shoebox with the threatening letters, confused as to who could be sending them, she is thankful that she has Abby by her side to comfort her.
When she meets Ben, a protective, beautiful soul, she finds herself instantly falling head-over-heels for him. As a result, the mysterious stalker's behavior starts to escalate, unknowingly putting both of their lives in grave danger. Just when things seem like they couldn't get any worse, Abby's life starts to spiral out of control, and no matter how hard Harper tries to help her longtime friend, it all just seems hopeless. Distraught and heart broken, Harper doesn't know what to do, but her epistolary stalker seems to have things all figured out…
My Thoughts
Picture a genre fiction Venn diagram. One circle represents suspense, the other romance, and the overlap contains the intriguing world of romantic suspense, in which two seemingly disparate elements, danger and desire, are successfully merged into one irresistible story. The ratio between the amount of suspense and romance as well as the manner in which both of these elements are deployed can vary considerably as the selected titles below aptly demonstrate. But at its core, every romantic suspense novel must contain some measure of both ingredients, which ultimately is why this hybrid subgenre is so popular with both romance and mystery readers alike. You'll Be Mine by Rachael M Mason is an amazing example of true romantic suspense thriller novel. I devoured you'll be mine and to my delight, today I'm reading it twice, and I must say I still love as much as I did the first time and maybe a bit more. Much of the reason I love it is not only due to a complex plot and well-developed characters, but because even her minor characters have a few details that make them memorable. Another reason is the gorgeous way Rachael M Mason writes. Her descriptions are vivid and I feel as if I could navigate that part of Brooklyn based solely on her descriptions of the geography.
If you like well-written romantic suspense, you will enjoy this book.
Highly Recommended!
