Olive the Worrying Wiener: A Short Tale about a Particularly Long Dog is an easy-to-read book about a stressed, and totally charming, lovable dog, Olive! In this story designed to engage early readers, charming characters combine with simple text, lively illustrations, and laugh-out-loud humor and emotions to help boost kids' confidence and create lifelong readers!
Olive is a good dog.
But sometimes he worries too much.
Exciting, easy-to-read books are the stepping stone a young reader needs to bridge the gap between being a beginner and being fluent.
I think that this a great book for entry level readers. It has excellent illustrations to help guide the flow of reading on the more difficult words. If there are any difficult words, there is only one in a sentence - this helps children not become overwhelmed by not knowing. Having the book structured in such a way where there is only a sentence per page, also helps children not become overwhelmed. My absolute favorite part of this book is reading about oddly charming little wiener.
The illustrations are cute, and the overall message is wonderful (to dogs and people) is one that most young kids will be able to understand. My niece loved this book, and I'm sure other kids will, too!
