Synopsis

My Thoughts
The best dystopian novels aren't escapes to other worlds. Rather, they're reflections of our world—and what could happen in the future. Steeped in cultural criticism and endlessly entertaining, these tales often serve as a warning of what can happen if our worst impulses are left unchecked. The Line Between: A Novel is an amazing dystopian thriller novel offers some escapism, but also, just as crucially, a resistance blueprint for when things go sideways. The Line Between is a book to start with when your mind wants to wander to some dark places. Dystopian fiction always fascinates me because it draws on aspects of our own world. Mirroring elements of society, the environment, religion, politics or technology, Books like The Line Between present a world that, though eerily familiar, is much more frightening than our own. A superb novel . . . [that] leaves us not fearful for the end of the word but appreciative of the grace of everyday existence. Deeply melancholy, but beautifully written, and wonderfully elegiac . . . A book that I will long remember, and return to.
The Line Between is the kind of book that speaks to dozens of the readers in me—the Hollywood devotee, the Thriller book fan, the doomsday junkie, the love lover, the disaster tourist. It is a brilliant novel, and Tosca Lee's writing is astonishing.
