Synopsis
A new world order has come. Society as we know it is no longer. Religion, politics, entertainment, and consumerism do not exist. All are equal, all are the same. No color, no gender, no difference. The human brain is rewired to rid itself of all nasty emotions, all preferences, and all nonconformity.
A young girl on the brink of losing herself to this society that condemns and exterminates human emotions is thrust into a war she didn't know existed. Who can she trust? And who is the true enemy?
My Thoughts
What a book! Like all the best speculative fiction, Ashley McCoury’s compelling fiction 2020: Injection takes elements of real science and spins them up into a novel and terrifying premise. 2020: Injection is a blistering, balletic read—silky-smooth world building that effortlessly grounds a wonderful, harrowing tale of social norms , equality, humanity and all humanly emotions. This is, for all its twists, turns, and tricks, a novel that does what a novel should do: examine what makes us human after all. Genuinely one of the best books I have read in a long, long time.
This was a clever, well-written story that blends Thrilling elements perfectly. The characters are fleshed out and realistic, partly because the author combines real events with an imagined future so well. I couldn't put this one down, and had to finish it in one sitting. If you are a fan of amazing literatures and mysteries, then I would recommend trying this one. Like the main character, you will spend this entire thrill ride second guessing your assumptions and clawing your way to arrive at the truth—which is tantalizingly held just in front of you until the absolute right moment.
The overall story was very well done and I enjoyed reading it. It's always a little more fun when you don't know who to trust and this story definitely has this. I also appreciate any science fiction story that is easy to understand and this did an outstanding job of doing that, especially given the subject matter. Definitely recommend.
