My Thoughts
My husband and I have spent many family discussions teaching our children about kindness. We tell our kids that what goes around comes around. If you want to be treated with kindness, you need to treat others with kindness. We’ve been successful for the most part, but kids make mistakes (who doesn’t?) and need a refresher now and then. Hungry Hudson Has a Choice by Leslie Mitchell Assini is a book that celebrate kindness and help my family remember how and why we should be kind. I must say the rhythmic and beautiful text makes this book an excellent read-aloud as well as a fun and rewarding choice for children who are beginning to read independently . . . A gorgeously illustrated, cleanly written introduction to the art of kindness. This book has lots of bold, graphic lines with lots of contrast which will appeal to very young children. I bought it for a 11 months old to look at and to grown in to, but his 3 year old brother related very well to the content. He wanted to read it with me several times and to discuss the situations. 

I was very impressed with the appeal this book had for him, as he is coping with the big feelings that all toddlers experience at this stage of development especially with a new baby in the house. I originally thought it would be nice for the little one to have a few books to grow with as his brother has so many books, but this one was definitely a great one for big brother too.

Gestures big and small, from offering comfort to sharing, are shown in this ode to community building . . . Cheery artwork features a diverse group of children.

A must read for sure!
