Synopsis
A little girl comforts her younger brother with a story about how their parents met and why they cannot stay together. This story is meant to broach the topic of separation with young children in a magical and kid friendly way. This is a story that can allow for conversation about a subject that can be very challenging. It is meant to comfort and inspire.
My Thoughts
Family break-ups are a sad and delicate time for everyone involved.
Sometimes a book can help parents and carers explain the situation to children and encourage them to share their feelings.
Like The Sun Holds The Moon: A Children's Book is my favourite children's books to ease those difficult conversations and show that families can come in all shapes and sizes – suitable for a range of ages.
I must say , Parenting can be hard, but parenting through divorce is harder. Whilst we grapple with our own emotions we must ensure our children have the knowledge and understanding they need. Thank goodness for a wonderful range of children’s divorce books that deal with divorce and separation.
Whether it’s a colourful picture book or a sensitively-targeted chapter book, they are an extremely powerful resource no single parent should underestimate.
This book provides, through honest language and evocative imagery, a uniquely realistic view of how children experience separation. While neither softening nor whitewashing this difficult topic, Joy Elisabeth Waldinger offers an ultimately comforting message to parents and children experiencing separation and divorce.
Like The Sun Holds The Moon: A Children's Book is a real game-changers.
Highly Recommended!
