Synopsis
To Fight Fire with Sun is a chapbook of poetry that dives into the experiences of love and loss. From conception, we have known love (or the lack thereof) and have grown to understand how this experience makes us the humans we are today. Loss comes in all forms. Whether through a friend, lover, or ourselves, we seek to find some method with which we can understand this pain and heal from it. To Fight Fire With Sun is just that- a queer girl's exploration into how one can love, lose, and heal through the power of words.
My Thoughts
Poetry captures what's so often ungraspable, articulates what's so often hard to put into words, expresses our outrage and our pain (and our love), and gives us the tools to praise the sublime. We are connected soul to soul by stanzas and verse.
Poetry is perhaps even more important now, in an unprecedented time of loneliness, of missed connections. Poetry helps me all the time, regardless of what's going on in the world. Because poetry is its own life force that comes from the imagination. Each section speaks to the heart in different stages of healing. No matter where you are in your journey, Home will revitalize your soul and help you make peace with yourself.
Organized in an uplifting way, starts off with the heartache of lost love but builds to a hopeful ending. You follow the writer on her journey through the pain and emerge on the other side. Many of the poems resonated deeply with me, a few felt like they were transcribed from my soul. You might need a few tissues, and a quiet space to reflect. So much love for this author
Truly an amazing collection of modern poetry by a true talent of this generation. It is an electrifying life line of the soul. One of those wonderful poets you reread over and over.
