Synopsis
In 1980 mainstream punk is dead, long gone, but underground punk not only survives, it thrives.

Skinner and his mates want to be a part of this new uprising, if only to alleviate the boredom of living in their little village in Hertfordshire, so they set about forming a hardcore punk band of their own.

It won't be easy, to succeed, firstly they'll have to survive, their parents' stupid rules, the crushing ex grammar school Richard Hale, gangs of marauding N.F. skinheads, and most dangerous of all, a local family of ex boxers.

Why not Join Skinner and his mates on their quest, as they take the piss out of anyone and anything mercilessly, drop a breeze block on an unfortunate frog, and find out that using soap to spike your hair up with isn't such a good idea.

My Thoughts
Punk is more than just a musical genre. It is an ethos. Channelling one’s anger against the triteness of the culture industry’s offerings can be a spontaneous and creative act of resistance and rebellion. Tales of Angelic Upstarts: The Cxnterbury Tales by Mick N Baker It’s a highly personal book, Mick N Baker tells the story of friends who set about forming a hardcore punk band of their own. Let me point out the things that I think were well done. The layout & cover design are amazing, it make's it just fun to pick up the book and randomly flip through pages.

Tales of Angelic Upstarts: The Cxnterbury Tales is the ultimate book on punk, its progenitors, the Sex Pistols, troglodytes and the moment they defined for music fans in England and the United States. Mick N Baker brings to life the sensational story of Skinner and his mates who wants to be a part of this new era, in order to alleviate the boredom of living in their little village in Hertfordshire, so they set about forming a hardcore punk band of their own. For me this is a trip down memory lane and a good book to reminisce over. After one chapter, I was HOOKED and could not put it down. The definitive book on the English punk movement and the life of young rebellious kids rebelling against the right wing government that was in power in the U.K. at the time in order to make better society for everyone of all creeds and colours.

It was the most entertaining and interesting book I've read in a long time and an exceptional book: dead serious and achingly funny, full of delicate complex emotions about the most brutally simple form of pop music ever created.

Highly Recommended!
