Collected from different regions of South and north Eastern India, these imaginary stories represent the voices of a section of manicures who still cling to the old beliefs and Practices in the age of globalization. The living ghosts in the stories are wicket to the core, Who come in disguise to live with the humans. Peppered with local dialects, these stories meditate between earth and heaven, deads and human beings, surreal and sensual and the living and dead. I appreciate Riksundar Banerjee's efforts in trying to put together such hair- raising folks stories in seamless blends of the unknown and the known, tailor- made for the metropolitan millennials today, blissfully oblivious to the same. The amount of effort put in for research needs well-recognition and appreciation. The narration is well thought out and written. The sequence, well executed. Horror genre is a personal favourite and I’d say this book served the genre - scare one with fears they may not have. The book is a masterpiece. Sad, scary and beautiful all at once. Horror turned deadly read! This book is definitely worth your time.
Brilliantly written stories of old. One story in and you can already sense it is a thoroughly researched book. Intriguing yet charming with a touch of emotions and fear. It’s a page turner where myth meets life. Definitely a must read book right from the heart of Indian culture.
