My Thoughts
At times when you can’t travel, the best travel memoirs can transport you to far-away places, helping to feed your wanderlust even if you’re currently confined to your couch. The travel memoirs below capture destinations as far-flung as India, Australia, and Antarctica, and are all worth adding to your to-read list. Inner Trek: A Reluctant Pilgrim in the Himalayas
by Mohan Ranga Rao The eager, sensuous pages in which he writes about what he found and what he encountered frame a picture of our human nature in the twenty-first century which will not soon be surpassed. This has quickly become one of my favorite books. It reads like a novel, despite its classification as nonfiction. This book is charming and fun, yet beautifully written without being overly poetic. His journey and experiences are truthful, playful, and at times, raw and challenging to read.

He let’s you know there are good times and bad times when traveling, but it is all an adventure not to be missed. His descriptions of the fascinating treks and people he encounters on these trips are truly captivating. Even better are his vivid descriptions of the incredible scenery he takes in, you feel like you are right there next to him. You feel his pain and fear as well as his joy. I highly recommend for anyone who loves to travel.

I’ll bet many of us would have a lot of fun and gain a lot of wisdom if we could have a conversation with this great Indian author. Descriptions are inspiring, characters along the way are appealing. It is such a real journey, so fascinating to travel along.

Highly Recommended!
