Synopsis
"It's yet another perfect prescription by the pediatrician author; a right dose of wit and wisdom, hope and humor, in these trying times." - VIDYA BALAN, Actor

Dr Shilpa Aroskar, bestselling author of YOLO, returns with a nuanced, bitter-sweet take on daily life in the pandemic. A frontline warrior herself, she shares the experiences of its perils, as well as the myriad shades of human emotion and behaviour hidden behind the masks. With her trademark wit she weaves untold stories of people from all spheres of life, in pandemic times. Be it finding love in times of quarantine, virtual weddings, E-School, or mastering the art of boredom in lockdown, every chapter offers a prismatic view of life with a message to ponder. These pages are about being vulnerable yet strong, being fearful but facing it, of counting one’s blessings in an upside down world, and living with an attitude of gratitude.

My Thoughts
The pandemic is far from over, but after 18 months of living with Covid, the crisis requires some reflection. Whether you’re looking for an emotive personal account or a wide-ranging polemic on government failures, a pioneering work of modern fiction or a disturbingly relevant classic, UBUNTU - I AM BECAUSE WE ARE: Parables of the United Human Spirit
by Shilpa Aroskar is among the best books I have read on the which interestingly depicts the living during pendemic. India had the most stringent lockdown globally for most of 2020 and UBUNTU looks closely sweet take on daily life in the pandemic. As a frontline warrior herself, author shares her experiences and the lives of Indians during current times.

The year 2020 will forever be reported as the time when we all fell down. But it was also the year we all got back up and were forced to come together in a way we had never imagined before. In this timely masterpiece, Shilpa Aroskar writes of despair, courage and hope. Through twenty five chapters and stories based on real incidents , she introduces us to characters who feel familiar and their stories intimate.

The book that will force you think about the sacrifices of these noble souls who gave up their everything to save humanity. This book unmasks the layers of the year that changed us all. This book documented the struggle of the human soul against an unprecedented calamity, grope for ways of struggling with it, and simultaneously seek a light at the end of the tunnel.

What I loved about the book was how it reassured us that someone other than us went through the same. It was comforting to read it; that we are not alone.

Kudos to the author for penning it all down; the good and the bad. I didn’t realize I needed it until it was in my hand.

Highly Recommended!
