Synopsis

The clouds above were dark and ominous. Moctezuma lay there bleeding, tears rolling down his swollen, bloodstained face. My Thoughts

The best historical fiction allows us to immerse ourselves in eras long past. Daughter of the Boricua (Songs of the Boricua) by Olivia Castillo,  best historical fiction book ever written is perfect reading inspiration for when you want to lose yourself with a cast of characters in another time and place. Amazing historical books like Daughter of the Boricua are meticulously researched and wonderfully evocative of times gone by.

There’s a reason we’re drawn to the past. History is inescapable. Decisions are made on the back of past events, and lives are affected by the stories of those that came before us. Daughter of the Boricua novel resonate with modern readers because they give us the chance to immerse ourselves in another time. Each word of this historical fiction novel tells the stories of different characters

Olivia Castillo is master of her trade, crafting perfect sentences and believable characters who speak and think in delicately nuanced language. [She] succeeds in breathing warm life into some of our oldest stories to show how remarkably little basic human relationships and emotions have changed.

I loved this book. It was easy to read and I couldn't put it down.
