Synopsis
On a spring morning, Kashiv decides to go on a holiday to a silent, sleepy hamlet, Wangloo. As the place allures him deep into the beauty of the forest, he falls prey to it and also to the beauty of an enigmatic woman there. With each passing moment, he tries to figure out the meaning of life and scheme ways to get acquainted with the woman, whom he calls ‘Blishe’.
The woman’s unforgiving monologue makes Kashiv’s thoughts spin wildly out of control, and in a deadly night, he sets the woman’s hut on fire, lending a deaf ear to protests and cries.
The diary entries in the book lead us through the smokescreens, revealing the most intimate corners of Kashiv’s psyche, making us question the stability of our existence and thoughts. Filled with exotic spiritual insights and delicious mysticism, The Other Side of Smoke is a journey to the end of time.
My Thoughts
Whether it’s their feel-good nature, wintery settings, or their mysteries, which have the power to unite strangers in the most jarring of times, The Other Side of Smoke by Vikash Goyal have a little something extra that makes this a perfect read for the holiday season. Great characters, a compelling story, and lovely writing. The stories move along, tons of detail and movement. I thought there was a rather interesting sub-plot that seemed as though the author lost interest in toward the end.
This book is simply intended to be enjoyed and to make you feel good. On that front it cannot be faulted. I loved it for its daftness and improbability and I read it from start to finish in one sitting. However, if you are hoping for a serious and plausible whodunnit with believable, realistic characters then The Other Side of Smoke by Vikash Goyal is just what you need. This is a book that keeps on giving right up until the very last word.
Attention-grabbing from page one, this book Filled with exotic spiritual insights will absolutely warm your senses. A character in Theory is a delightful mystry thriller that introduces amazing characters — with attitude! — who readers will enjoy rooting for. This simple tale of end of time is a story to be savored.
I really hope there are more books to come!
Such a fantastic book I could not put down. I just wish the author could write the books faster because I dont want to wait a year to read more books by Vikash Goyal.
