Synopsis

Millie is eleven going on twelve when her life is upended by her parents’ decision to separate. Her mother gets a new boyfriend, and her father moves into a new place: an apartment with a big sign on the door that says NO DOGS ALLOWED. Since there’s nothing Millie wants more than a dog of her own, that seems like the biggest blow of all.
Hoping to get her parents back together—not just for her sake, but for the sake of her future dog—Millie is elated when her father moves back in after a short while. She can’t understand why her parents aren’t happy at the reconciliation until she learns the truth: her father is back because he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Told in verse by acclaimed Canadian poet Katherine Lawrence, Stay is a moving, touching, and yet often humorous portrait of a family in a time of crisis, whose pain is filtered through the thoughts and actions of an eleven-year-old girl. No other form of art can capture the range and diversity of human experience the way a poem can. Within these pages, you will find poems about an itch, an afternoon of play, the humorous portrait of a family in a time of crisis, the fear of an injection, about the cruelty of being different and being judged for it; sad yet funny poems about losing someone close; and almost anything you can think Here is the perfect introduction to the variety and sheer joy of poetry for readers of all ages. Full beauty of this collection can only be appreciated at a later age, so I think it's more a companion book that grows with you as you learn to read between the lines. That being said, can I just say how consistently and how much I've been in love with this collection! It is magnificent beyond words.
These poems connect them with their actual life-giving a feeling that it's their own story. Cover of the book is good it's designed nicely in a very colourful way. Writing of poems is not everyone's cup of tea. Expressing your emotions your thoughts your feelings in small words is called poem and author brilliantly portrayed her thoughts in the book.
Pace of the book is good you can easily finish it in one go but it has a long lasting effect. I really enjoyed reading this book. This collection of poems is based on real world and relationships. Each poem is unique and engaging.
