Synopsis
Gaia’s Own: Every Child’s Guide To Living In Harmony With Nature is an exchange of emails between a young girl and her itinerant grandfather, on the theme of Nature and our interrelationship with it, especially in the context of climate change.

This is a non-fiction book, for preteens, young adults, and anyone interested in learning more about the interdependence between mankind and the natural world. The Foreword has been written by Mr. Pushpanath Krishnamurthy, a climate change/environment activist.

The book shares concerns about the current environmental issues plaguing Earth in a casual, personal, and wholesome way. It also shares information on what is being done to alleviate these problems as well as fresh perspectives on what needs to be done further to completely course-correct and help maintain the balance in Nature conducive to a harmonious existence.

The children are the future. And the wisdom they gain today will guide them in their choices tomorrow. This book aims to raise the awareness in each child of how they may contribute in the future to finding better solutions, to make this world a better, happier place. It hopes to instill respect for the natural world, and keep their innate sense of wonder alive always.

My Thoughts
I purchased this book drawn in by its subtitle "Gaia's Own: Every Child's Guide To Living In Harmony With Nature." But the story the book told was much bigger than that, starting with the exchange of emails between a young girl and her itinerant grandfather, on the theme of Nature and our interrelationship with it, and ending with the sad state of affairs describing the situation that mankind must deal with today. While most environmental books talk about climate change, this book discusses all the key ecological issues and concludes with an extensive discussion of the lifestyle changes we should all consider making. This book is a must read for anyone and everyone who cares about the quality of life for the generations who will follow us. The message was spot-on and I totally agree with the need to better protect our planet. I appreciated this work for its broad spectrum of shared knowledge for the next generation of humans, who are bequeathed this life-giving planet. While addressing the global issues facing all of us. I truly loved this book as I strongly agree with its overall message.

With worldwide and community-based solutions beginning to spread, there’s no better time to introduce the youth of the world to the mounting climate crisis and inspire them to take action. While the science of climate change and the issues it creates can be difficult to understand, author Dharshana Bajaj expertly breaks down the complex topics into a clear, beginner-friendly format.
