Synopsis
He's known as the class clown - the kid with a lot of nerve. And some believe thirteen-year-old Jack Mathias is too confident for his own good. My Thoughts
Summertime for many families means packing up the tent, rolling up the sleeping bags, and setting out on a camping trip. While there’s a lot to enjoy in the great outdoors, the ideas of sleeping outside and cooking over a fire may also be a little overwhelming to kids who have never camped before. Jack Mathias and the Boonetown Bandits by G.M. Savage will help kids learn more about camping and spending time outside, whether it’s their first trip or their tenth. My Daughter Loved it so much that she ended up wearing the book out. It was a staple of her bedtime reading for months! When I wasn't reading it she would leaf through it just "reading" it to herself during the day. First got the book when she was two and half.
It's a good book to get kids interested in the outdoors, she asked a lot of questions while we read it and it prepared her for our family camping trip. I Highly recommend this book. Whats nice about it, is that the dialogue is fairly sparse which allows you to expand on themes of whats happening in the illustrated panels. So the book is never really the same every time you read it and it allows the story to grow with the child.
Clear colorful pictures with amazing cover. Hit on all the concerns a new camper might experience and solves them in a positive reassuring manner.
