My Ratings 4.4/5

Synopsis
James Rutherford is expecting this Bangalore trip to be much like any other. Fly in, get the work done and rush back home, to England. What he certainly didn't expect, was to be smitten by an opinionated Indian girl. What was it about her that captured his imagination and would not let go? Had his heart been Bangalored?

The last thing Radha Iyer expects when she does a friend a good deed is to be catapulted into a world of flirtation and adventure. With a handsome man involved, she wasn’t about to complain.

But with romance comes heartbreak...

My Thoughts
The joy of Bangalored is that it appeals equally to the head and the heart. It is clever and complex, yet it also makes one laugh, and finally, moves one to tears . . . Gayatri Chandrasekharan writes [with] a fecund, teeming visuality that is entirely her own. A masterpiece, utterly exceptional. Here is a book that has had me flabbergasted since I started reading it. Now that I have finished with it, I am still unable to shake off a sense of… disbelief?

Let’s consider why.

After finishing the book and ruminating over it for a couple of days, I have not identified the protagonist. There are a few candidates in the book, but not one of them stands out more than the other. And yet, the story is whole. There is an identifiable beginning, a mindboggling middle and a uncertain end that leaves the reader guessing. For a long time after the end, to be fair to the story.

This is not just another novel that you come across, this is serious, I just couldn't believe myself when I got to know that this was Gayatri Chandrasekharan's first novel. It was truly unputdownable. This is not one of those novels that you pick up and finish in one go. You'll be carried along In to a journey, you'll feel pain of the characters and feel joy in their happiness. The phrases and the style of writing is ingenious. You will never ever regret reading this book.

A compelling story which somehow marries the deepest, smallest personal emotions with an epic narrative.

Highly Recommended!
