Synopsis
Thelma and Louise meets Eat, Pray, Love meets Me Before You in The Placeholder, an unconventional, unforgettable, unputdownable story of loss and love.

Fresh out of boxed wine and romantic prospects, Serenade Kincaid, a middle-aged attorney in Boise, Idaho, enlists the assistance of Zac, a for-sex-only companion, to ease her loneliness. It's all fun and games until he gets married, and she falls ill.

With the stakes high, Sera's friend/boss, Carolyn, takes things into her own hands only to find out that not everything is as it seems.

A great book club selection, The Placeholder is perfect for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid, Colleen Hoover, and Abbi Waxman.

My Thoughts
After reading this book from now on I am a fan of Lynda Wolters’s work and this to me is one of their finest. Anyone looking for a solid romance can be reassured that they will adore her writing. Unlike most steamy romance authors, Lynda Wolters’s characters do not appear to be repeated with different names, they actually have personalities.

I really liked “The Placeholder”, in the romance novel genre, I feel like this is one the best offerings. The characters are interesting without being obnoxious; the setting is captivating, and the storytelling superb. Book feels so completely exotic and alluring. The story pulls you in and the romantic interaction between the leads leaves you wanting more. Nothing more you could ask of a steamy novel.

“The Placeholder” is a very well written dark romance novel. It may not be a literary classic, but it entertains and fulfills our need for romance immensely. The characters felt believable and more importantly, they felt intense.

Overall liked the novel, would re-read, and suggest that you give it a go, if you are a dark romance fan.

Highly Recommended!
